“I could write it myself, if I had the time.”

Of course you could. But you don't. And chances are, you wouldn't know what to write anyway.

A Fortune 50 Sales VP once told his reps, “Remember, the need to tell is greater than the need to know.”

His point? Figure out what the prospect or customer needs to know in order to take the next step, give it to them, then shut up. If they want more, they'll ask for it.

So, the first trick is figuring out what they need to know. The second trick is working that into a convincing progression of thought.

That takes time. A lot of time. Time that you don't have because you have 67 other things to do.
